Curriculum Development Manager




The purpose of the role is to provide outstanding leadership for curriculum as part of the organisation. You will implement clear, focused plans that promote and deliver our mission and the drive for continual improvement.

You will support innovation and quality improvement for all activities linked to curriculum development within InterLearn.  This success will be measured through high quality teaching and learning, learner and employer satisfaction surveys and high levels of positive progression and destination outcomes.


  • Level 3 Education & Training, PTLLS or equivalent
  • Level 2 Mathematics and English qualifications


  • Follow the Curriculum Policy in line with business and client needs
  • Support with the development and ongoing review of our curriculum offer on a national basis across all Skills contracts whist working closely with key stakeholders including employers to ensure quality provision and content that is fit for purpose
  • Work closely with the SLT, MD and key stakeholders to influence the strategic direction and decisions
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of government policy, industry updates and the wider skills sector to influence internal planning
  • Participates in the needs assessment, design and development of product and role specific curriculum road maps and high-level designs
  • Support with multiple programme development projects simultaneously by priotising deadlines, tracks development life cycles and ensures that problems are addressed, escalated where needed, and resolved quickly
  • Handle trainer and learning skills coach “how-do-I-do-this” questions
  • Encourage communities of practice among sector delivery teams
  • To promote, enable and support dissemination of sharing of best practice I.e. Develop helpful hints for staff that offers abbreviated information to support delivery staff with educational language
  • To keep updated of developments in online technologies / methodologies for further opportunities to engage in teaching, learning and assessment
  • Regularly review and facilitate the update and amendment of training and assessment materials
  • Support the management of multiple programme development projects simultaneously by priotising deadlines, tracks development life cycles and ensures that problems are addressed, escalated where needed, and resolved quickly
  • Interacts with Clients in the planning and scoping requirements for curriculum
  • Reviews and tests new and revised curriculum offerings from product team members, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement; contributes to new curriculum or program ideas
  • Ensure that English, maths and Digital Skills are at the core of each curriculum and are not just embedded
  • Create surveys for each curriculum to capture learner feedback aligned to each Masterclasses content/objectives
  • Ensure that the developed curriculum is in line with the End Point Assessment requirements for the standard or framework being developed

Technical Knowledge and Understanding

  • Proven track record in developing original and innovative technical and related process training programs, workshops and demonstrations; experience developing instructor-led training materials and self-paced learning content
  • Foundation knowledge and understanding of learning theory and instructional design techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills for the purpose of documentation development, curriculum development, editing and communication
  • Excellent knowledge of training services practices, procedures and systems with a working knowledge of government contracts
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK Further Education system with a strong understanding of current policies and practices in relation to funding
  • Understands the self assessment and quality improvement process
  • Understands the common inspection framework
  • Understands the apprenticeship sector and specifically apprenticeship standards
  • Understands end point assessment how to mitigate risk to the business
  • Understands the principles of outstanding classroom and workplace delivery
